Isaac Dickson Elementary School
Isaac Dickson Elementary School (Dickson) is a public
magnet school located one-half mile from downtown Asheville,
North Carolina. Over 36% of Dickson's students are eligible for
free or reduced price lunches.
Dickson is one
of only six Blue Ribbon Elementary Schools in the country chosen to
be a case study for achieving high level school performance in a high
poverty school environment. The school's focus is on experiential
learning based on Foxfire
techniques. Dickson teaching is based on the belief that children
learn best by doing.
Dickson takes a holistic approach to the education of children from
all families. This approach includes family support. Support staff
work with parents and faculty to identify effective approaches to
meet the diverse needs of Dickson families so that all our children
succeed in school.
After school hours, Dickson's facilities are community resources used
for learning and recreation. Click the Donate
Now button to help make the K-2 Playground a part of those community resources.
