Tasks include:
1. Grade parking lot east of playground to prevent erosion.
2. Remove sand pit, play houses and plastic edging shown on Phase 1 plan.
3. Relocate five re-usable playground pieces to where shown on Phase
2 plan.
4. Repaint re-usable playground equipment.
5. Relocate 1 bench and 1 trashcan (see Phase 2 plan).
6. Install sand structure (Kompan "Play
Works M5820P).
7. Install large manufactured play structure (Playworld
Challenger) inside 'Kid's Choice Area'.
8. Install underdrain system (comprised of a layer of geotextile,
a layer of perforated plastic drain pipes in-filled with pea gravel,
then a layer of geotextile) under the edged play area shown in Phase
2 plan.
9. Extend playground dimensions to the locations shown on Phase
2 plans with the installation of new edging containing integrated
seating.
10. Install loose rubber mulch. This type of mulch is the safest,
most protective mulch and also meets ADA accessibility requirements.
11. Install underground water line to new water fountain location
shown on the Phase 2 plan.
12. Re-grade and sod the grassy area.
13. Install bound rubber track around the grassy area. This rubber
track provides a forgiving surface for all users and is the ADA
compliant entry to the playground.
14. Plant trees west of playground. These deciduous trees will be
cecropia moth food sources.
15. Add floor, steps and rails to wooden shade shed to enable it
to be used in the short term for theatrical play.
